A bit. It's saying it can't read a file. Which one, I'm not sure. It's probably just the "(C)Pixel" issue that needs to be fixed if you are using new graphics. I recommend you try using CaveEditor to remove the (C)Pixel requirement from the exe, if you can.

Actually I'd say it's much more obvious that Pixel is a furry, if anything (look at the mimigas, in particular Chaco). Plus he said that if he were to have made cave story again, one of the things he would have changed is the protagonist.

Not png, pbm. It has to be saved as a bitmap, and then the extension must be set to .pbm. Also, what sprite sheets are "Npc.png"? Normally it goes NpcXXX, with XXX being whatever.

My guess is that's it's an error message window, which are in japanese (and your computer is most likely not setup to view the characters). There should be an error.txt in your Doukutsu folder, please post the contents of that. My guess is that it is the "(C)Pixel" thing that I told you about...

Pretty much. Either way you'll be editing the games files, which is pretty much "modding" them. The script editors are the easiest way to translate it.

Cave Editor doesn't like to open scripts for some people (mostly the newest version), so I recommend using 0.98d. Also I can only assume you are talking about the .pbm files (the pixel bitmap files) which hold the graphics for everything in the game, including maps. (pxe and pxm are the files...
