It's probably because you chose not to get the booster back from Momorin (she would've taken away the mask and given the booster back). Without either of the boosters I'd imagine that the cave is hard, if you don't have a machine gun to level up.

The plan originally was to use it as the final boss theme, but since the creation of perfecta, that has been scrapped and so it basically would have gone unused. You can use it.
