Do you have any plans to balance the difficulty in some way?

Transcriptions shouldn't be excluded in my opinion. It takes skill and practice to do a good transcription. I do agree they shouldn't be mixed in with original compositions though Maybe a theme could be "transcribe X"?

Also unequipping an item you don't have has no repercussions so you don't really need to use flags (unless you need to restore the air tank conditionally)

It seems like he wouldn't actually participate in cutscene conversations, but just provide extra dialogue if you decide to talk to him in your inventory at specific parts of the game. At least, that's what I got from what ZT said.
