I beat the second game, Chelsea and the 7 devils. The final bosses were pretty hard, but FYI Chelsea's ladder does some insane damage.

I always interpreted those as fur suits (or fur) since they don't seem to have any "features" and it would fit with their cat ears and tails. The pipe going into them is a bit odd though.

Ballos is also the only real multiple-form boss in the game. He has 4 forms you have to kill. This is made a bit easier with Curly on your back, but that's still a lot of boss.

Bunny Must Die is a Metroidvania title. It has a quirky story and is pretty fun to play. It is a bit difficult, but it's still a lot of fun. One of the more interesting mechanics the game offers is the ability to freeze (and eventually reverse) the flow of time. Buy Bunny Must Die Here...

It sounds like it has more game (story, bosses, weapons) and less building elements. Which sounds like a good balance.
