Hm.... I've seen a thread like this before, which leads me to belive that this game would be too short if you died right after the Sand Zone! Edit: Anywho, yes I would believe so, but there is much Doctor magic involved for the real answer.

Did you play hard mode, is that why you had 3 lifes? Either way,MonsterX is easily defeated with the Blade 2 or 3.

I so far have only beaten Cave Story with only the Spur and Machine Gun and I have never used the Snake. I never even hear anybody talk about it in these Forums, so for quick reference, is the Snake comparable to the Spur/ Machine Gun?

The Core was never too hard for me, just Polar Star the projectiles and shoot missles when clear, that was easy enough for me. I found the reason for me always losing to monster X, I found the Blade (lvl. 2 or 3) works wonders. I almost want to say Curly. The patterns are easy to get used to...
