I figured out what your problem was with the maps. For some reason I'm not entirely sure of yet, there was a lot of junk data from TSC overflowed into the map data. This should not happen. You could fix it manually with a hex editor, just go to the address for the map scroll type and make it "02...

Well try what I suggested, going to the Ballos entity (I forget which number, should be near the end) and setting the Ignore Solid flag with the npc.tbl editor.

It sounds to me like you set his "ignore solid" flag, am I right? Not entirely sure how it could be useful, but perhaps you could have something with a platform in the middle of solid tiles and then boundaries at the bottom and top of Tile 44.. I can't really recall if that would work though...

CE's "Remove read-only" just applies to the executable, not the maps and such.
