Oh, right. Forgot that I was playing without the Snake or Bubbler so as to not drop them off the island. I was more thinking of the Suto + Great White Critter and Suto + King Pignon battles, though. Guess I'll have to try it myself.
Could I have that list of NG+ conversions?
As in, don't take any Life Capsules in JN either? Hmm, okay. Do you have a link to the list of NG+ conversions?
(I'm not sure this is actually possible; Suto's bubbles are likely even more of a bane to the minimal-HP-runner than the Core's shurikens are in the original. Has anyone before me...
No. I didn't load any NG+ profile. No Nemesis, no Turbocharger, 51 health, Final Destination. :P
I imagine it would be even more Easy Modo were I to load one.
That's just it, though. Jenka's Nightmare is a hard-type mod. Have you played the original Shmitz version?
I will admit that I'm rather...
Hmm. Is the caption in the Plantation about closing your eyes a quote? I seem to recall reading it in a book, but it's simple enough that it could be independent.
I'm also - somewhat narcissistically, but still - wondering if you knew, when making that puzzle, about the incident during JNR's...
You don't have to compromise with me. It's your mod; you can do with it what you want. You should only implement my suggestions if you agree with them; I'm not some Great Dictator of Mod-dom or something.
(I probably wouldn't even be complaining if there was a copy of Shmitz's version floating...
I was one of the testers for JNR, remember?
I don't mean Possessed Curly/Oblivion 5000 health silliness, just twice as much or something. I seriously felt like the fight was too short; it died so fast (20 seconds or something; 3 or 4 Spur shots) it was an anticlimax (leaving aside the much...
Well, I'd prefer it to be harder than to remove the medal. In Shmitz's version, defeating Monster X is actually an accomplishment, because you're usually on a sliver of health after riding it to where you need to go and as such sticking around to defeat it is risky. Here, on the other hand, it's...
I feel like Monster X is a lot easier than Shmitz's version, probably because the gauntlet is shorter, has less parts where you actually need to be riding, and has less spikes that can hit you while riding. It should, IMO, be quite a bit harder if it's to be worth a medal.
Never mind. I figured out how to do it (alternating tapping Z and X while holding Down).
Is this how it's supposed to be done, or are you supposed to be able to hold Z and Down and just tap X?
That's the Machine Gun, yes?
Yes. I can easily get to the first 3 blocks, and can get to the 4th by constantly firing 1 shot instead of holding the button down. However, I can't get up to the ledge above that 4th block. I always run out of ammo.
Realising this is an old thread, but...
Okay, I got to the start of Mortanro's Castle, but I can't seem to get up to the ledge on top of the sequence of blocks with the dragons on them. Could someone fill me in on how to complete this?
Oh, and I have "screwy computer mode" activated, because I...
Monster X is far enough into the game for difficulty spikes to be acceptable (the game roughly has three "acts" - First Cave/Egg Corridor/Grasstown/Sand Zone, Labyrinth/Core/Waterway, and Egg Corridor?/Outer Wall/Plantation/Final Cave/Balcony - and Monster X is in the second, where the...
IIRC Hard mode is an enforced 3 HP run, while Easy mode halves all damage.
So yes, Hard mode is harder than the PC difficulty unless you're doing a 3 HP run.
You know what I'd like to see?
Modify the Core's standoff distance to be greater than your weapon range, and force the player to navigate an obstacle course to continually chase it and deal damage.
Re: Jenka's Nightmare Revived
The first time I tried to beat Genesis, I was tired enough that you could probably compare it reasonably to playing while tipsy. Disregard my comments about that.
Do not disregard the comments about the "lol, everybody dies" ending, though.
Or that stealing an...
Re: How were you introduced to CS?
TVtropes enhanced my life.
Well, TVtropes and a few other places on the web.
Anyway, I kept seeing zillions of comparisons between Iji and Cave Story, so I played it.
Re: I should write these ideas down
And what of my suggestions?
TBH, I think Sue's ending is the better one to go with, though. Curly's ending is a bit too sugary.
Shmitz's ending? What ending is this? :p
But yes, you can certainly tell when you finish Shmitz's bit. The levels become more linear, and the dialogue becomes shallower. :(
If someone steals this idea, I may be cranky...
A mad scientist comes to the island, and attempts to build another Red Crystal from the Doctor's notes.
As for Sue's ending, well, the Demon Crown will autorevive as long as Ballos lives, so...
Re: Jenka's Nightmare Revived
There's still a block which is initially inside the floor in Labyrinth W.
You might consider toning down Oblivion's health from the current 5000 or so. Once you've killed the Critters, the rest is just mopping up, but it takes ages thanks to his humongous health...
Re: Maikid? never heard of him!
Miakid, not Maikid.
We know (from Curly when she gets her memory back) that someone acquired the Demon Crown 10 years ago, and from Booster (IIRC) that no-one has set foot on the island since.
The assumption is that this was therefore Miakid.
As for him being...
