I'll add to the list. But it might be already on there anyway but I'm too lazy to look. I've encountered this in two mods I've played... Where at the beginning, there are already a dozen things that can kill you in one hit. Even worse if there are a lack of save points. Quite a lack of balance.

Anything you cna think of that a human has done. Maybe a Mimiga has done too. Though they do seem to be more peaceful than humans.

My theory is that they were purposely built to be inseparable. If one gets in trouble, the other will help. They are meant to be the perfect team. And making them opposite genders adds to that.

Magic! The island is held up by magic, and is home to several wizards/witches! So why not have all the caves lit up by unintentional magic? If not, maybe the rocks emit a natural special light. Those types of rocks do, in fact, exist in real life, from what I've heard.
