Well speedruns do kind of tend to take place over at least the order of weeks, over which time all the little mistakes get ironed out. Not that I'm saying it needs to, but you don't have to do the whole thing in a couple of sessions if there are a few really annoying parts you want to get right...

Eh at least Touhou looks pretty, unlike Cave (the shmoop developer) stuff. There should be space for some fun weapons in such a mod. If you end up having too much difficulty with them though you might want to try out The Underside's editor, since I think it comes with its own fancy weapon maker...

Maybe try having the downward wind tiles only on spaces directly above the ground? That seems like it should work fine.
