i don't really draw anymore but i sometimes i can't sleep and my brain is clouded and i pick up the pen
i discovered a new brush and both of these have been made using said brush for at least 95% of the time, with some minor airbrush usage and whatnot to do all the funky end effects
don't make fun of the names, that's how i named the files initially and i never bothered to actually name these

the glow effect here (around the parts touched by light) has been suggested by a friend (thanks coco). probably made the overall piece much better

late reply is late. hi hina! nice pieces. i like your composition, and the kinda scribbly effect where the lines work together with the colour. and in the last piece the interface between lit and shaded areas is nice.

since i'm not sure if there's a modding art thread here, i'll just post some of the facepics of the mod im working on here!

ooh the shading is nifty, there's a 3d feel to it. reminds me of something else but not quite sure what. the expressions are well drawn too.
i'm assuming the modding scene has largely shifted to discord? i haven't really been keeping up. thanks for sharing bits of your modding progress on here!

it's a simple style but you make it work. that glowup is indeed insane. i like the homestuck inspiration.

yeah, the linework is stunningly clean. i might have said this before but your art has a very soulful and nostalgic quality to it. i like the character poses too. keep up the doodling!

you seem to be experimenting with different styles and you did a great job on them all! i feel like there's a strong fashion-consciousness in your work, which i can't speak much to but it's nice to see all the same. i do especially like the soft colouring on the blue-haired character in your latest post.

 

went through a cowboy bebop phase recently (loved it!!!) and made some pixel art of the main cast, pretty happy with how these came out

 

Oh boy! My Cave Story OC roster has increased! Here's a bunch of creatures! Apologies for the image sizes, I drew these at a 1080p resolution.

So, in lore, for most of his life, Tomasu wasn't exactly well-liked in Mimiga Village. Though, after his 18th birthday, he eventually made quite a few! And, after moving out of the village (with his pals,) he made a couple more. Now, he's in a group of 7 Mimiga! And also Nubert. But we'll get to him when the time comes.

TOMASU (23yo, he/they) - I think we all know him. Dead mom, dumb haircut... big ass hammer. Just an all-around doofus.

NAITO (23yo, she/they) - Tomasu's weird alternate timeline girl counterpart. (No, I'm serious.) Cursed by the narrative to be immortal.

ARUMO (21yo, she/her) - A timid and anxious Mimiga that enjoys reading and is most comfortable around the people she trusts. When by herself and surrounded by a bunch of strangers, her anxiety causes her to break down. Probably comes from the surface?

SQUASH (19yo, he/him) - This Mimiga was just... born short. He can't help it. He enjoys food, is kind of dumb, and is just... goofy as hell. He considers himself Tomasu's "best friend," which is a mutual belief.

NOKIN (22yo, they/them) - They lost their family quite a long time ago, possibly when they were a kid. They tried to save them... but were the only survivor. Empathizes with Tomasu and his dead mother thing because of that. Kind of aggressive sometimes, and trains themselves to become stronger, all to protect the people they care about.

KARIKO (21yo, she/they) - The sort of "energetic one" in the group. Her optimism lifts the spirits of the group quite a bit whenever the mood is low. She likes making friends, planning activities, just... she's the one that keeps everything under control, even if her methods can cause a bit of trouble for the rest of the group.

MOBI (26yo, he/him) - Somewhat older than the rest of the group, and is abnormally taller than the rest of the Mimiga, about 5'4". The quiet one. He enjoys human culture a bit too much... mostly the automotive industry. Cars, busses, go-karts... he just finds it all interesting, and hopes to be a mechanic one day.

NUBERT (??yo, he/they) - It's Nubert. Everybody loves him. That's why he lives in a cave. No, I don't know why he's persisting outside of a Dark World. That's just the power of Nubert, I guess.

XEUZIA (23yo, she/her) - Arumo's older sister. Her job is to be a doctor, basically... helping out her community any way she can. She has a bit of an alcohol problem, but only when she is off-duty. She's been trying to get off of it, don't worry.

Xeuzia and Arumo are "canonically" "Voidlandian Mimiga," which are my take on the "more colorful mimiga types" subset? i guess? i just wanted them to be unique in a way so. myeh. kariko isn't a voidlanian mimiga though despite her looks
