Hi everyone,

Some of you may have seen this YouTube upload:
As noted in the video description, this is a re-upload of an old Nico Nico Douga video, and I was the original uploader.

These files were originally released by Studio Pixel around 2000. I just happened to still have a copy, and since they don't appear to be included in the versions currently archived online, I thought it would be worthwhile to preserve and share them here.

2000/11/25 20:42 ab10844d518a95d2df57e8bda5cd9a99 11,258 Field03.org
2000/11/25 20:20 be68cffe9822133a5e5b2e063029eaa7 176,128 Org13.exe
2000/11/18 01:27 4c43dc01dc3d13e6b07637ede62a0927 5,794 Open00.org
2000/11/09 00:39 79aca69d3e6c45f9940b31e24cced619 4,386 Stone.org
2000/11/01 21:36 8a318a3b8359c2232df0bf9c7d9fa82f 11,722 Curly7.org
2000/10/29 10:06 f6eca4de95805ab9d607c020229a9952 14,122 Tech3.org
2000/10/25 01:28 06bbc99854d10ae65fdc8e0370225d82 163,840 Org13b.exe
2000/10/17 00:41 13cc5beda6580229d565276e789d9bfb 29,722 Tech5.org
2000/10/13 02:25 f231d6a975990cda9dbf43a01e56366e 21,330 NightAway.org
2000/06/01 22:55 6412b04688caf169c67bbe57ca46035e 15,498 Stg02.org

As far as I can tell, these sample tracks are not included in the currently archived OrgMaker releases, including v1.0, v1.1, v1.3.2, or any later versions.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the original LZH archives or the accompanying text files.

My memory is a little fuzzy, but as far as I remember, v1.3β included seven sample tracks, and Open00.org was added in v1.3 release, bringing the total to eight.

One thing I can't fully explain is the timestamp of Field03.org. It should already have been included in version 1.3β, yet the copy I have is timestamped 22 minutes later than the v1.3 executable itself.

My best guess is that the file may have been updated shortly before the release. Another possibility is that my copy was accidentally overwritten shortly after v1.3 was released, although that seems rather unlikely given the timing. I can't completely rule it out, though.

Wow! Thank you for preserving and sharing! These tracks are great!
I'm curious though, what made you upload this now? Was there a recent surge of attention to the video or its reupload? Have you been online since uploading that video, or aware of trends in interest in Cave Story's history all along? What's the whole story behind obtaining those files, uploading a render, going offline for so long, and suddenly resurfacing to share the files? It's all so mysterious :pignon2:

Really happy to see these files still exist somehow, and very surprised to see you still around and suddenly return (?!) Thank you for uploading these!! I would have thought they were lost forever, let alone that you would come back in 2026 to upload it. When I first saw the original video on NicoNico, it was really nice to hear those songs, and I've listened to the video many times since then, so thank you for sharing it.

About Field03, I thought too that it would be likely that pixel only saved an updated version of that file 22 minutes after making the new build, and just included it in the LZH then.

I wonder, if you saved these songs, if you have anything else from that time, like old Cave Story test versions, executables, devlogs, things like that ... We have Cave Story v0.9.0.6 and other assorted versions (and the v1.0/v1.1 of Organya) from kind people who uploaded those a few years back, but it seems like the amount of people who could have saved them is very low, and I suspected you could have salvaged those versions as well. Either way, I'm glad this is preserved now.

To answer your question, it all started when I randomly came across that YouTube re-upload recently. While reading through the comments on the video, I noticed many people mentioning how rare and hard to find these specific files are now. Seeing the reaction from the community made me realize that the old data I happened to save was actually lost to time for most people and holds significant preservation value. That was the main trigger for me to make this post and share the files with everyone here.

Do you by any chance have anything else by Pixel from around that time? Stuff like the post above yours mentioned, but also potentially MIDIs from his website and such.

I don't have any old Cave Story builds, devlogs, or other Pixel-related files that aren't already preserved somewhere.
I don't recall Pixel having any MIDIs available on his website, either.
If I happen to come across anything else while looking through my old files, I'll definitely share it, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
